Adios Athens

There is some info. at the bottom of this page for anyone who wants to know when I update this site.

About to get on the bus Thanks go to David for taking this picture.

Last Monday was my final day in Athens GA for quite a while. It was perfect. Dave and I had the absolute biggest brunch in the world at my ol' workplace, the Grit. (I'll miss all of you.) The kitchen went overboard with the presentation, sending out a candelabra and a silver platter (okay, a pseudo-metal cake-thingy) for our pancakes and our biscuits and gravy. We both also had an entree. E-gads! It took us three hours to finish. There was no hurry; our mission included the smoking of cigarettes, the completion of the crossword, the enjoyment of weather, and a departure from the bus station at 4 o'clock.

Somehow, later, we found the ability to stomach another meal. Lunch with the inimitable Lauren Osborne. One last glass of sweet tea before heading north, and a little southern comfort food at 5 Star Day Cafe.

Good food.
Great friends.
Casual afternoon.
Impending travel.

Good day.

Bye to Lauren Thanks again to David for preserving the moment.

Lauren was off to work, and Dave and I made our way to the bus station to bid farewell. See you soon, man.

So, thanks to Dave and Lauren for the best last day ever. Take care of each other while I'm away and I'll miss the both of you.

See you soon.

And to the rest of Athens (you know who you are), I'll see you down the line. Lotsa love, and, I'll be in touch. There's a great deal more to say, and we'll have to find the time. (Look below for info. on how to stay on top of when I update this blog.)
